One of Big Sean’s dreams came true when he hit the studio with his idol Eminem on Friday. It’s unknown if the Detroit rappers were working on a collaboration, but Sean shared the special moment with his fans.

“Today was historical,” tweeted the G.O.O.D. Music MC.

Earlier this year, he spoke about his plans to play Em his sophomore album Hall of Fame.

“I wanted to make sure my album was completely done before I went and played it for him,” Sean told Rap-Up TV. “I know a while ago he reached out.”

Hall of Fame is due this summer featuring collaborations with Miguel, Jhené Aiko, Nas, and more.

The summer is about to get a little Shadier. Eminem is returning to the mic “post-Memorial Day” with his first solo album in three years.

Shady Records president and Eminem’s manager Paul Rosenberg confirmed that the Detroit rapper is back in the lab and will have new music for his fans in the months ahead.

“We fully expect to be releasing a new Eminem album in 2013,” Rosenberg tells Billboard. “He’s been working on it for some time. It’s safe to say that it will be post-Memorial Day at some point, but we’re not exactly sure when.”

While no specific release date was given, Eminem will play a serious of shows overseas later this summer. “We’ve got some dates locked in for him to perform live in Europe in August, so we’re trying to see what else lines up,” adds Rosenberg.

Eminem stans, it’s that time of year again. The great Marshall Mathers celebrates his 40th birthday today (October 17).

Unless you’re in Em’s inner circle, which includes Dr. Dre and 50 Cent, or artists signed to his burgeoning rap label, Shady Records, you won’t catch the Detroit spitter blowing out candles on his birthday cake and you won’t be able to sing him the refrain from his protégé 50′s legendary single, “In Da Club,” but you can take a look back at his numerous accomplishments since his last born day.

There have been no media blow ups or surprise guest appearances on shows like HBO’s “Entourage” this year — just a steady flow of executive moves behind the scenes and a few guest spots on selected tracks that came off as lyrical cherries on top.

To kick off his days as a 39-year old MC, Eminem was tapped by GQ magazine as one of their “God Of Rock” picks along with fellow rapper Lil Wayne and rock legend Keith Richards. Em followed that up with an animated guest appearance at 50 Cent’s SXSW set, and then he got back to producing and mixing Slaughterhouse’s debut album, Welcome to: Our House.

In May, Em helped 50 Cent to recover from a quick hospital visit with some encouraging words. “Yo Fif, you were shot nine times man. If you die over a burger, this sh– ain’t gonna go right. People ain’t gonna be feelin’ this,” Fif told MTV News, relaying his mentor’s message. A few months later, the partners-in-crime appeared together in the Adrian Grenier-produced documentary “How To Make Money Selling Drugs,” which debuted at the Toronto Film Festival in September.

Additionally, Em was a major part of Ice T’s recent documentary, “The Art of Rap,” in which the legendary MC detailed his unusually methodical approach to crafting the rhymes that have made him one of the top-selling artists of all time, in any genre of music. Last month, decorated producer No I.D. revealed that he was working with the reclusive rapper on new music that might appear on his upcoming eighth solo album and fans were treated to another stellar Em 16 on Pink’s new track, “Here Comes the Weekend.”

To cap off his year, Marshall covered Vibe magazine to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the movie, “8 Mile,” a semi-autobiographical film that showed the rapper’s acting chops, depicting a struggling rapper in Detroit balancing a dysfunctional home and his dreams of making it big in the rap game.

Happy Birthday Eminem!

Via Rap-Up.com: It’s not often you get to see Eminem and Dr. Dre in the same room, but the hip-hop icons crossed paths overseas on Wednesday. Dre was at the Apple Store in Tokyo hosting a live fan consumer Q&A about his popular Beats by Dr. Dre headphones line. Slim Shady, who is also in Japan for his “Recovery” tour, stopped by to show support for his mentor.

Now that he’s finished with the Slaughterhouse project welcome to: OUR HOUSE, Em will return to the studio to record his eighth solo album. He is also featured on “Here Comes the Weekend,” an “alternative club banger” off Pink’s album The Truth About Love, due September 18.

Via MTV.com: Shady’s back … back again! Eminem has spent the last few months locked in the studio, but he’s only just started working on his seventh major-label solo album.
